What is TTL?
TTL (Time to Live) controls how long DNS resolvers around the world cache your DNS records before checking for updates. DomainWorld lets you set TTL per record.
Available TTL Options
- 5 minutes — Changes propagate very quickly. Use when actively making changes.
- 10 minutes — Default. Good balance of speed and efficiency.
- 30 minutes — Suitable for records that rarely change.
- 1 hour — Standard for stable records.
- 4 hours — For records that almost never change.
- 24 hours — Maximum caching. Only for permanent records.
Tip: If you're planning DNS changes, lower the TTL first, wait for the old TTL to expire, then make your changes. This minimizes downtime.
